There are things people mean to say that never get said. Not because they didn't matter. Sometimes the moment just kept moving and never came back.
A lot of people carry full conversations around in their heads. Things they wish they had said better. Things they should have said sooner. Things they thought the other person probably understood without having to hear it.
But life doesn't always work like that.
Sometimes what stays with you isn't what happened. It's what never made it out of your mouth.
I think that's part of what songwriting does. It gives thoughts like that somewhere to go. It gives shape to something people have felt but never quite knew how to say.
